Hot News: These 2 ‘Yellowstone’ Stars Are In Talks For Season 6

You might not have to say goodbye to your Yellowstone favorites this fall. Despite Paramount Network’s announcement last year that Yellowstone would end after Season 5, there are now reports suggesting a change of heart regarding the future of Taylor Sheridan’s hit drama.

Yellowstone Season 5.

Puck News first reported that the neo-Western drama plans to continue past Season 5, Part 2.

With Kevin Costner’s (John Dutton) involvement currently unknown, two other beloved cast members—Kelly Reilly (Beth Dutton) and Cole Hauser (Rip Wheeler)—are reportedly in talks to star in Season 6.

In May 2023, Paramount announced that Yellowstone was canceled after Season 5. The network also revealed that it green-lit two new spinoff series to join its growing franchise, which already includes 1883, 1923, Lawmen: Bass Reeves, and the upcoming 6666 series.

One of those spinoffs is now officially titled The Madison. Michelle Pfeiffer and Matthew Fox will star in the new series, which is a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana, according to Paramount. Suits’ Patrick J. Adams, Elle Chapman, Beau Garrett and Amiah Miller will also appear in the upcoming series.

As fans await more news on a possible Season 6, the long-awaited second part of Season 5 is set to premiere on Paramount on November 10.

The final episodes were delayed after last year’s writers’ and actors’ strikes, Costner’s limited shooting schedule for Horizon, and rumored tension between the lead actor, Paramount, and the show’s creator.

In September 2023, Costner revealed that he was offered a sixth season of Yellowstone, but negotiations didn’t go to plan.

He also said via court documents that he was “no longer under contract” for the show. The actor claimed at the time that he was offered less money and that there were “creative” issues.

Costner has been busy creating, directing, and starring in his four-part feature film Horizon (the first part tanked at the box office this summer), but recently expressed a desire to return and finish Yellowstone this fall.

“I’d like to be able to do it but we haven’t been able to,” Costner told Entertainment Tonight in April 2024. “…I thought I was going to make seven [seasons] but right now we’re at five.

So how it works out — I hope it does — but they’ve got a lot of different shows going on. Maybe it will. Maybe this will circle back to me. If it does and I feel really comfortable with [it], I’d love to do it.”

It’s unknown whether Costner or any cast members aside from Reilly and Hauser have been in discussions to return for a sixth season. Stay tuned to learn more.

Created by Sheridan (Tulsa King, Mayor of Kingstown), Yellowstone is Paramount Network’s successful modern-day Western drama.

The show centers around the Duttons, the owners of the largest ranch in Montana, and follows the family’s struggles to protect their land from land developers, an Indian Reservation, political rivals, and other threats. The series stars Costner, Reilly, Hauser, Luke Grimes, Wes Bentley, Kelsey Asbille, and more.
