Both Cole and Mariah were on overseas business trips, Mariah came home overwhelmed with guilt, while Cole came home overwhelmed with an illness he regarded as a bad cold.
Cole stubbornly refused medical care, finally giving into a hospital checkup-where his fever and horrible coughing returned.
Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) thought it sounded like pneumonia-but by the time thorough medical tests are completed, it may be something much worse.
Mariah, on the other hand, has guilt nearly as crippling as Cole’s illness is crippling him-and in flashbacks, it showed her drinking with a much older man (Michael Swan).
Ironically, the older man, who has not yet been named on the show, looks like Cole-one wouldn’t think the show would cast an older Cole lookalike without a reason!
Cole’s Birth Father Was A Marvin Oakley, Eve Howard’s Lover
The backstory of Cole is his mother, Eve Howard (Margaret Mason) was working for Victor as a secretary, and became obsessed with him.
She was nearly as crazed as her half-sister, Jordan (Colleen Zenk) and around the same time she had a one night stand with Victor, she’d been involved with Marvin Oakley (Frank Whiteman).
She broke up with him and told him she was moving in with Victor, and she and Marvin never saw each other again.
She told Victor that Cole was his son, and for years, he believed that he was; but following Eve’s passing in 1993, Victor came across a letter from Marvin. It was written to Eve, suggesting that her son, Cole Howard, could potentially be Marvin’s child.
Could Mariah’s And Cole’s Storylines Be Connected, Her Mystery Man Being Marvin Oakley?
Victor then proceeded to perform a blood test involving himself, Cole, Marvin, and Eve’s remains.
The results confirmed that Marvin was, in fact, Cole’s biological father, harboring resentment towards Victor due to Eve’s infatuation with him.
Fast forward to the present day, regardless of why Mariah feels so guilty about her interaction with the mystery man, could these stories intersect?
Cole potentially could have the type of life-threatening illness requiring some kind of transplant, and the only living relative, Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) not be a match.
