Fan favorite Courtney Hope, who plays Sally on The Young and the Restless, is opening up about a devastating loss. Her beloved dog, Miss Stevie Nicks, has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.
Courtney Hope of The Young and the Restless pays tribute to her dog
“The day I’ve dreaded for 16 years,” Hope began her Instagram post. “My soul pup, the one who woke up the mother in me, my best friend, and my shadow 💫crossed the bridge into heaven 🫶🏼. Miss Stevie Nicks, Steven McQueen, my bug and bubba. If you knew me, you knew her.
“I never expected life could be so vibrant until she came and woke me up,” the actress continued. “Got me through the hardest times of my life and brought joy to every moment. There wasn’t a room I walked into that she wasn’t behind me.
“I’m thankful I was entrusted with loving her and guiding her just as she loved and guided me,” Hope continued. “To be a witness to her boundless love and fierce nature was a privilege. She fought until the very end and made sure we knew it was going to be okay.”
Hope went on to share with her followers her dog’s last moments on earth. “Barely able to breathe, she stood up energetically one last time and walked to every family member in the room and stared them in the eye,” the actress wrote, “making sure they were seen and thanked, before laying her head onto my chest and taking her last breath.
A true angel on earth. She taught me that having grit, strength, and boundaries can co-exist with gentleness, unconditional love, and a humble yet unshakable confidence.”
Support from The Young and the Restless co-stars
“I was given the honor of taking care of her in this life, and sometimes taking care of something means letting it go to spread its wings and fly onto the next adventure,” Hope philosophized. ” I promised her I would be okay because I know this is just goodbye for now and she left with a wink and a smile. Until our next meeting forever holding your lucky rabbit’s foot.”
Hope’s pals from The Young and the Restless and other daytime shows saw the actress’s post and reached out with support. “I know how much you loved Stevie,” wrote Jason Thompson, who plays Billy, Sally’s on-screen partner in both personal and business matters.
Adds Tracey Bregman (Lauren): “This is the hardest part for loving our babies so much. She will be waiting for you on the other side. My heart is breaking for you. She will be your soul pup always and Love never dies. Love you.”
“Oh babe,” wrote Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea). “I’m so sorry. Such a beautiful caption and well said, she was so lucky to have you as her Mom and you were soul mates and you will see her again one day!! Love you.”
“Thinking of you as this is so tough!” added Lauralee Bell (Christine), a devoted dog mom. “We love all our pups but that special bond with a certain one is different. Happy you found each other. That bond will be there forever! It’s never long enough. So sorry!”
“Losing a beloved dog is so heartbreaking,” wrote Elia Kantu (Jada Hunter, Days of our Lives). “I hope all the memories you shared bring you some peace in the days ahead. Sending you love & comfort during this time.”
“Oh sweetheart, I’m so sorry,” wrote Michele Val Jean, creator/executive producer/head writer Beyond the Gates. “You were lucky to have found each other and to have shared such a bond. It’s truly magical and the memories will eventually sustain you, though it may be hard to get there right now. Sending you so much love.”
“I’m so sorry, Courtney. It’s just the worst,” wrote animal-lover Susan Walters, who plays Diane Jenkins Abbott. “But what a lucky pup to have you as their person.”
“Thank you for all your love Stevie’s and I love you all,” Hope added to her post after seeing the outpouring of support and love from her friends and followers.
