Under Pressure

In 2005, Heinle received the opportunity of a lifetime to audition for the role of Victoria on Y&R. The actress already had soap opera experiences with her roles on Loving and All My Children.

But playing Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) daughter was a huge moment.

Heinle had big shoes to fill taking over from Heather Tom and admits she was a bit nervous. In an interview with Soaps.com, the actress revealed she didn’t expect to last long at Y&R.

“They’re totally going to fire me, and it’s going to be so embarrassing,” Heinle confessed. “I didn’t think I was going to get the part, then I did.

It was a little bit overwhelming, being a recast. I knew she was loved, so there was this added pressure of, ‘Wow, I better be good.’”

It didn’t take long for Heinle to find her groove, and soon, fans welcomed her as the new Victoria.

Although her previous soap opera jobs were short-term, Y&R was her new home.

“On both of those shows, I stayed for my initial three-year contract. Then I’d say, ‘Well, I had a great time, but it’s time to move on.’ But with Young & Restless, after my first three years, I realized, ‘Wait, I really like it here and don’t ever want to leave.”

Twenty years later, Heinle is still going strong at Y&R. Victoria remains an important part of the show and everything is going smoothly for her at the moment. However, there’s bound to be plenty of workplace and family drama coming for the Newman heiress.
