‘The Bold And The Beautiful’ Execs Planning Big Move
Fans have tuned into stories on The Bold and the Beautiful for nearly four decades. However, executives for the show have announced a big change for the long-running soap. The change is one that has been impacting other CBS shows over the years.
The Bold and the Beautiful Will Change Something For The First Time Since The Soap Began
The Bold and the Beautiful has been around since 1987. The series started as a sister series to The Young and the Restless, which premiered the decade prior in 1973.
Over the years, fans watched the Forrester family and their haute couture empire through various stories. For many fans, the CBS soap has been a constant in their lives.
However, change is inevitable, and executives for the soap announced a big change for the soap. The Bold and the Beautiful is about to leave Television City after nearly 40 years.
Since the soap’s launch in 1987, the daytime drama has been filmed within the same Los Angeles mid-city studio complex. However, as noted by Deadline, it is set to embark on a “multi-year, billion-dollar renovation and expansion.”
That said, production will continue in Los Angeles, which is even where the soap is set. This will help keep the current crew employed and reflects the show’s desire to keep the production based in California.
The show is relocating 2.5 miles northeast to Sunset Las Palmas Studios. Production on the soap will start in mid-August after the series returns from its summer hiatus.
As noted by head writer and executive producer Bradley Phillip Bell, “It’s been an extraordinary 38 years at Television City, where we have produced over 9,600 episodes of The Bold and the Beautiful.
As we look ahead, we’re excited to begin this next chapter at Sunset Las Palmas Studios —continuing our production in the heart of Hollywood and the great state of California.”
In addition, the show already has quite a few more stories to share. The soap was renewed earlier this spring for three more seasons, lasting through 2027-28.
A Series Quite Close To The Bold And The Beautiful Still Remains At Television City
Prior to the move, The Bold and the Beautiful was one of various shows that continued filming at Television City after CBS Corp sold the complex in 2019. However, shows have been leaving one by one with leases running their course. A $1 billion renovation plan is reportedly underway, which will see the space become a construction zone for around three years.
Another longtime Television City series, The Price is Right, recently left back in 2023 for Glendale. For its part, The Bold and the Beautiful saw its lease come up this year, explaining the move.
The last CBS series remaining at Television City is The Young & the Restless. Reportedly, The Bold and the Beautiful‘s sister series is currently on a multi-year lease and has no immediate plans to relocate.
For its part, Sunset Las Palmas has already welcomed the new soap. In a recent statement, Sean Griffin, SVP of Sales for Sunset Studios and Quixote, shared, “We are honored to welcome The Bold and the Beautiful to Sunset Las Palmas, where we will deliver world-class service to ensure the entire cast and crew have an exceptional experience. Their long-term recommitment to Hollywood at this pivotal moment is an important symbol for the industry, and we hope others will follow their lead.”
