Sister Wives Trailer: Kody Tells Robyn Another Woman Asked About ‘Joining the Family’
The Brown family is back.
TLC dropped the Sister Wives season 20 trailer on Thursday, Aug. 21, welcoming fans back into the lives of Kody Brown and his wife Robyn Brown, as well as his exes Meri, Janelle and Christine Brown and their extended brood.
According to a synopsis for the new season, the family is “more emotionally raw than ever.”
“In the wake of multiple separations, the family faces major turning points,” read the synopsis. “Meri dips her toe into dating with an awkward but promising speed dating event, while Janelle takes steps toward a spiritual divorce after a freeing trip to New Orleans.
Christine and David are settling into married life, but Christine is shaken when her kids begin moving to North Carolina near Janelle, sparking jealousy and hurt.”
The trailer sees many of these events unfold, beginning with Meri’s speed-dating experience.
“I have never done speed dating before,” Meri tells a friend, who jokingly encourages her to snort — like she just did — to impress her potential suitors.

Elsewhere in the trailer, Christine encourages her husband David Woolley to “hang out” with ex Kody.
Christine and David laugh at the prospect over dinner in the clip.
The scene then cuts to show the two men together spending quality time at a race track.

The trailer shifts to Janelle, who admits she needs to “get out.”
A friend supports Janelle by telling her to “change up your hair a little bit” and to give the world a “new” version of her, as the camera flashes to Janelle living it up in New Orleans.
The next scene shows Janelle admitting to Meri that she’s “ready” to sever spiritual ties with Kody. (Janelle announced her split from Kody in December 2022, though she previously told PEOPLE in January 2024 that she did not consider herself “divorced” since they were “never were legally married.”)
“We talked about the spiritual divorce, and I think I’m ready,” she says, with Meri offering her full support.

Later on, Kody tells Robyn that “some woman” reached out to him about “joining the family.”
“I got another one of those emails from some woman asking sort of like to get to know us for the purpose of joining the family,” he tells her.
While he lets out a laugh at the situation, a close-up on Robyn’s face shows that she isn’t pleased with the prospect.

The trailer also hints at the continued drama surrounding the sale of the family’s Coyote Pass land in Arizona, an ongoing point of contention on the show.
The most outspoken person about the sale is Robyn, who says, “This is bulls—. I’m not selling this land until everything is perfectly fair and we do this the right way. Sorry!”
As the footage shows the family gathering on the land, Robyn adds that “there’s been more effort put into creating pain and hurting each other” when it comes to the property, which she admits makes her “angry.”
After years of drama, the family sold the property for $1.5 million in April 2025.

Toward the end of the trailer, Kody says he “would love healing” with each of his three former wives.
Christine doesn’t seem open to the idea, as she tells David, “I don’t want to talk to Kody ever again.”
Janelle is of a similar mindset, as she admits that she wants to “tell him that we’ll never be friends.”
Kody is then shown attempting to make amends with each of the women, with Meri channeling Taylor Swift as she flat-out tells him, “We are never, ever, ever getting back together.”
As the trailer comes to a close, Kody says, “Listen, I have this wife. Her name is Robyn, and she would never let me do anything naughty, as bad as I want to do it.” He then lets out an evil laugh.
Sister Wives season 20 premieres Sunday, Sept. 28, at 10 p.m. ET on TLC. Christine’s book, Sister Wife: A Memoir of Faith, Family and Finding Freedom, drops earlier that month on Sept. 2.
