R.I.P, Drew: Are We Finally Saying Good Riddance to General Hospital’s Nastiest Bad Guy?
General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Cameron Mathison (Drew Cain) recently hinted at Drew’s revenge and offered a clue about his character’s survival. In an interview with SOD, Mathison made an “I’m gonna punch right back” comment that made it seem like Drew’s not done wreaking havoc in Port Charles.
Cameron Mathison debuted as a Drew recast in 2021 and portrayed a good guy at the time.
Drew remained a heroic character for multiple storylines, but GH writers eventually decided to take the character in a more sinister direction.
Although Mathison was a little reluctant to make the change at first, he ultimately learned to embrace the fun of playing a baddie.
Mathison admitted it was sort of like a “little fantasy escape” since he’s obviously not this horrible in real life!
Now Mathison just goes with the flow and leans into portraying a villain.
The show definitely delivered quite the whodunit when a mysterious figure shot Drew twice in his own home.
In order to set up that twist, Mathison acknowledged that they had to take Drew to some downright disgusting places.
Even Mathison was surprised by some of the low blows Drew’s delivered and awful strategies that he’s resorted to.
Tackling the changes in his character has been a challenge for Mathison, but he also confessed that it got easier as the storyline moved along.
As for this Drew mystery, Mathison had some interesting comments about that as well.
Laura Wright (Carly Spencer) dropped a hint on social media last month by comparing Drew to J.R. Ewing (Larry Hagman) from Dallas – and that’s a comparison Mathison also made.
“You know, I watched Dallas back in the day, and in many ways, it’s very in line with the ‘Who Shot JR?’ story. I don’t care if you are the punching bag for all of Port Charles, you’re still the center of the story and that feels really cool. I’m like, ‘Bring it on! Let me be the punching bag! I got this — and I’m gonna punch right back!’” Mathison said.
Of course, if Drew’s still got some fight left in him, then he may not be as dead as so many fans would like to believe.
Cameron Mathison already replied to a fan on Instagram in August and confirmed he wasn’t leaving the show.
If that’s true, it explains why Mathison’s still talking about punching back and perhaps setting up Drew’s revenge now that he’s taken a couple bullets.
We should also note that J.R. survived his own whodunit on Dallas, which feels like another clue that Drew may do the same!
General Hospital spoilers say there are plenty of Drew-related curveballs to come, so stay tuned for updates on all the shocking news and any consequences ahead.
