General Hospital Spoilers: Obrecht Has Got This All Wrong
General Hospital spoilers say that when it comes to Dr. Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), it seems like she’s gotten this aspect on the show all wrong. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Obrecht Has Got This All Wrong
Dr. O made a comment about how maternal blood flows directly into the fetus. Yet, it’s actually used to protect the fetus from being recognized by the mother and seen as a foreign body that would prompt an immune response causing fetal demise.
What’s more, the mother’s blood flows to the placenta bringing oxygen and nutrients. The fetus produces its own blood cells. Some immunoglobulins and viruses can cross the placental barrier.
It almost seems as though there might be a writer on the General Hospital team that clearly doesn’t understand embryology, right? Or so it seems.
What’s Next For Dr. O?
Another critic said, “This is why Rh factor incompatibility is a thing: a woman doesn’t share blood with the fetus, but an Rh- woman who has antibodies from a first Rh+ embryo has potential issues with the antibodies targeting a being with a different, Rh+ blood type.”
And then there was this comment as well: “I am thinking the stuff Liesl is saying is more coming from a place of grief.”
“She still thinks Britt is dead, is still clearly mourning her, and even though biologically Rocco isn’t her grandson, I think Liesl just wants something to cling herself to Britt. I don’t think it’s supposed to make sense because it’s grief.”
Of course, General Hospital fans will simply have to tune in each and every day to find out what will happen next.
