How General Hospital’s Rory Gibson almost became a WSB agent
On Friday, , General Hospital debuted a brand-new Michael Corinthos when Rory Gibson made his first appearance in Port Charles. However, when he auditioned for the soap, he never expected to become Carly and Sonny’s oldest son.
From Joss’ boyfriend to her…brother?
Gibson revealed to TV Insider that he landed the role of Michael after first auditioning to be Josslyn’s WSB trainer, a part that ultimately went to Bryce Durfee.
“I originally sent in a tape for Vaughn,” Gibson said. “I came in and did a chemistry read with Eden [McCoy, Josslyn Jacks], then I had a nice little chat with Frank [Valentini, executive producer] afterwards, and I could kind of see the wheels turning as we were talking.”
Gibson was surprised when he got a callback, but it wasn’t to play Vaughn.
“It was super, super top secret,” he relays. “I came in and screen-tested for that with Kate Mansi [Kristina Corinthos] and Katey MacMullen [Willow Tait], and it went well.
They were super warm and welcoming. A couple of weeks went by, and they brought me in for another screen test with Steve Burton [Jason Morgan] and Laura Wright [Carly Spencer]. About a week after that, they locked me in, and it’s been a nice little journey ever since.”

On Tuesday’s General Hospital, we will finally see Michael in the thick of it back in Port Charles. He will have to deal with both Sasha and Willow, his two baby mamas.
Of course, nobody except Jason knows that Michael is Sasha’s baby daddy. Michael will be fighting for custody of his kids from his delusional wife, Willow, but also be concerned about Sasha and her pregnancy.
For Gibson, it’s been nothing but joy as he has gotten to know the two most prominent women in his new character’s life (besides Mama Carly).
“As far as the cast, Katey MacMullen and Sofia Mattsson have both been unbelievably kind,” Gibson said. “They’re two of the sweetest, loveliest people anyone would ever have the joy of meeting, and they’ve really shown me the ropes.”
Will Sasha finally decide to confess that Jason is not the father of her child after all, clearing a path for Michael to be in his baby’s life? Will Sasha and Michael eventually resume their old romance, as many fans hope? Time will tell…
