General Hospital’s Chad Duell Returns as Michael This Week or is a Recast Coming – Here’s What We Know
General Hospital (GH) spoilers suggest that since Chad Duell and Michael Corinthos exited the soap in late January of this year, the question of whether or not the actor would reprise the role upon Michael’s return has lingered.
Now that Michael is heading back to the land of Port Charles, GH viewers are buzzing about this on social media.
During the Tuesday, May 20 episode, a clip was shown of a man on a private plane. It was clearly implied that the man could be Michael Corinthos, even though his face wasn’t shown.
After all, said man was watching the Nurses Ball red carpet, as Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) was making out with Willow Tait-Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen), and the nurse gushed about how happy she was, in love and with the congressman, on camera.
With that said, from the glimpses that fans got, some audience members couldn’t shake the idea that the figure of the man on the plane resembled Chad Duell.
The shadowy image of him looked a lot like Duell, as well as his hands. Still, maybe that was the point.
Regardless, it’s also interesting that no casting regarding the Michael Corinthos character has been leaked.
This means the show is working hard to build up some suspense regarding Michael’s return and big reveal, so let’s dive into what we know.
As it stands, nothing has been announced by the show regarding Duell’s return or even a Michael recast.
Still, back in April, recast speculation rose when actor Robert Adamson (ex-Noah Newman from The Young and the Restless), who had filled in as Michael on several occasions as a temporary recast, hopped on the social media platform X and noted he was disappointed that he wasn’t allowed to read for the role of Michael.
There have also been theories that actor Rory Gibson (another ex-Noah Newman from The Young and the Restless) has been cast as the NuMichael due to him following actress Katelyn MacMullen (and her following him) on social media.
Gibson also follows Holly Gagnier (ex-Jennifer Smith), a GH acting coach.
In addition, there’s been buzz that Drew Garrett, who played Michael before Duell from 2009 to 2010, could step into the character’s shoes, once again, too.
It’s hard not to wonder if the soap have announced this casting call, months back, to swerve fans? Will someone new step into the Michael role, or could Duell return?
The anticipation is certainly building, and the internet exploded after the scene of the man in the jet plane, a.k.a. Michael, was shown.
Imagine how blown away fans would be if and when everyone realizes that Chad Duell has returned to the show.
Many were devastated to learn Chad was taking a break, so there would be plenty of happy fans if and when the OG prodigal Corinthos son makes a return!
Then again, the shock of a new Michael and the reveal of a recast might be equally thrilling, depending on who the ABC soap decides to go with.
