Breaking News: General Hospital’s Chad Duell Scores an Exciting New Role
Michael may be off in Germany recovering from the burns sustained in the explosion but his portrayer has already landed his first project since deciding to step away from General Hospital.
Chad Duell reposted an announcement from Stoneypoint Entertainment that featured details about his new role and the best part is, fans will be able to see the ABC soap fave onstage.
“Today the cast and production team (producer Dorothy Amos) made it official,” the company stated on March 3 then went on to inform that Duell and Zach Mendez will star in Bruce Reisman’s world premiere of Yum Yum at Annapolis.
“It’s the start of a journey to New York, where an Off-Off Broadway run is planned for late fall,” they continued.
“Reisman will also direct his ‘two-hander,’ inspired by the real life friendship in 1939 between American playwright and icon Eugene O’Neill (Mendez) and a young sailor Eddie (Duell), hired as a handy man to rebuild the front porch where O’Neill wrote Long Day’s Journey Into Night.”
Viewers will watch as “these two stage trained pros will share the stage, alone, for 90 minutes (no intermission). It will be ‘Acting Olympics’ for these guys.”
Rehearsals will begin with a table read next week then “the public, full-tech and costumed, invited audience concert reading in April in Los Angeles at the legendary El Portal Theatre in NoHo.”
Duell’s castmate Cameron Mathison (Drew) jumped into the comments to send his congrats through a series of applaud emojis and fans were happy to hear that he would be stretching his acting muscles.
Just last week, Duell gave his followers a peek at his “next chapter,” and the adventure he set out on, so we couldn’t be happier that the actor is taking this time away from from daytime to enjoy new things.
Be sure to stay tuned to the theatre’s website for more details as they are released.
