DAYS Exclusive: Billy Flynn Shares Chad and Cat’s Surprising Future

Chad’s connection to Cat was severely broken when he found out she was a fraud pretending to be his late wife, Abigail.

But actor Billy Flynn (Chad) doesn’t believe it’s the end of the line for the two Days of Our Lives characters. In fact, he reveals that he and AnnaLynne McCord (Cat) will continue to work together in the months ahead.

Ah, Chemistry

“We have a new writing team who’s been doing amazing work,” says Flynn, referring to co-head writers Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford.

“I’m really excited with the new team. What you’re going to see is [Cat] and Chad slowly start to work towards a reconciliation, hopefully.

[The writers] have some stuff in the works that I think is going to make [the scheme Cat helped perpetuate] all make a little bit more sense.”

Flynn is grateful, because he truly enjoys working opposite McCord. But does he feel Chad and Cat have a good connection?

“Well, I think AnnaLynne and I do. So I think if we do, then Chad and Cat do,” notes Flynn. “There’s definitely some good chemistry there. I mean, plot aside.”

One plot point that did resonate with Flynn was that Cat was adamant about not meeting Chad’s children while she was pretending to be their back-from-the-dead mother; that despite her big scam, she was protective of Thomas and Charlotte.

“That’s not lost on me,” proclaims Flynn, who also believes Chad would understand Cat’s motives for doing what she did. Namely, that she was trying to save her own mother’s life.

Hot take: I see chemistry between Chad DiMera and fake Abigail Deveraux : r/DaysofOurLives

“Listen, this is somebody who’s part of the DiMera family,” reflects Flynn about his character. “Chad would’ve done [what Cat did] in a heartbeat to somebody, if it would have saved Abigail. There’s no doubt in my mind. But it happened to him.”

Yet, despite being hurt, Chad is a man of compassion. “If anything he is like the moral compass of the family,” points out Flynn.

“When Chad gets to know Cat and the intentions that were behind [what she did], out of all the DiMeras he has the most forgiveness in him. I mean, everybody loves a redemption story. And Chad was never an angel, nor is he now.”

Flynn’s hope is that viewers give the story a chance. “You have a lot of diehard Chad and Abigail fans who will hopefully come around,” he says. “I mean, listen, [Chad and Cat] are never going to be Chad and Abigail.

I’m never going to play Chad as if any other love is going to be as great as Abigail. But everybody needs to move on at some point.

That being said, I think that what AnnaLynne and I have on camera is undeniable. It always surprises you when it happens. It especially surprises you when the fans react to it.

Sometimes you have to have really good writing to make it work. Sometimes you just kind of have it, and it doesn’t matter what the writing is. I think AnnaLynne and I have that.”
