How Todd Chrisley Really Feels About Chase Chrisley’s Failed Proposal to Girlfriend Jodi Laine Fournerat
The Chrisleys may be known for their lavish lifestyle, family drama, and reality TV antics, but when it comes to matters of the heart, even this famed family faces challenges.

Chase Chrisley, son of Todd and Julie Chrisley, recently experienced a personal setback when his girlfriend, Jodi Laine Fournerat, rejected his marriage proposal. While the gesture was romantic, the outcome left fans wondering how the family patriarch, Todd Chrisley, truly feels about the situation.
In a heartfelt confessional on the September 16 episode of The Chrisleys: Back to Reality, Todd opened up about his thoughts. “I want him to have a wonderful, beautiful personal life with a relationship that feeds his soul,” Todd, 56, shared. He emphasized the importance of a partner who would be “a wonderful mother to his children, that’s going to be a great wife. Someone that I’m gonna like, that’s important.” His words reflect not only the protective nature of a father but also his desire to see his son find stability and happiness amid the family’s ongoing public drama.
However, Todd admitted that he doesn’t yet know Jodi well. Chase began dating her while Todd was serving time in prison on tax fraud charges, a sentence from which he and Julie were ultimately pardoned by former President Donald Trump in May 2025. “Jodi was there the day that we got home, but that was five minutes I think that I spoke to her,” Todd explained. “There’s been really no interaction between us and Jodi.”
The Proposal That Wasn’t
Chase’s proposal to Jodi took place in a seemingly intimate moment—their bedroom, right after Chase had gotten out of the shower. But Jodi, while open to the idea of marriage, was hesitant about the timing and setting. “I’m not turning you down. I’m turning down the environment,” Jodi explained in her own confessional. She wanted a proposal that felt meaningful and thoughtful rather than rushed or awkward. “I was like, ‘Chase, get up. We’re not doing this right here, we’re not doing this right now,’” she recalled.
This honest response underscores the challenges of dating within the Chrisley orbit. Jodi admitted feeling judged by association. “I feel things are said about me without actually knowing me, whenever other people in the family aren’t very fond of him, I’m linked to that,” she revealed. “Maybe I’m not what they want me to be or whatever, just because they may disagree with Chase.”
Family Dynamics and Tensions

The Chrisley family has never been short on drama. From Todd and Julie’s high-profile legal battles to sibling spats, Chase and Savannah Chrisley have had their share of tension. Jodi’s comments reflect the difficulty of navigating a relationship within a family whose personal and professional lives are so publicly scrutinized. Despite the challenges, Todd remains optimistic about his son’s future.
“This family has always been about sticking together, supporting each other, and fighting for one another,” Todd said. “Chase has been through a lot in the past few years, and I just want him to have love and stability in his life.”
The Chrisley Family Background
Todd Chrisley, born in Georgia in April 1969 and raised in South Carolina, has long been the central figure in the Chrisley saga. He and his first wife, Teresa Terry, had two children, Lindsie and Kyle, before splitting. Todd later married Julie Chrisley, born in South Carolina in 1973, and together they expanded the family with Chase, Savannah, and Grayson, later adopting Kyle’s daughter Chloe. The family has faced numerous public challenges, including Julie’s breast cancer battle in 2012, Todd and Julie’s legal convictions in 2022, and ongoing family estrangements.

Todd built his empire largely through real estate, making “95 percent” of his money before entering the reality TV spotlight with Chrisley Knows Best, which aired from 2014 to 2023. The show chronicled the family’s luxurious lifestyle, business ventures, and personal drama, and spun off shows such as Growing Up Chrisley and What’s Cooking With Julie? Todd’s charisma and strict parenting style were central to the series, making him both a beloved and controversial figure.
