odd & Julie Chrisley’s return home took an emotional turn when they learned that Todd’s mother, Nanny Faye, had a health scare mere days after their release from prison.

Julie Chrisley Says Nanny Faye’s Health Scare Came Just Days After Their Pardon
“Literally, when we got pardoned, I think it was that same week, right? That you found out that there were some things that showed up,” Julie, 52, said. “I was there to take you to that appointment.”
Julie added that being present for her mother-in-law was deeply meaningful, especially given the time they’d spent apart due to their 28-month prison sentences.
Julie Chrisley Recalls Being by Faye’s Side During Cancer Diagnosis
Faye was initially diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2021. While Todd, 56, & Julie were still behind bars, Faye publicly shared in 2023 that she was in remission.
“I think people don’t realize it, which I think is just such a God thing. When you were diagnosed with bladder cancer, I was there with you,” Julie recalled. “We went to Vanderbilt. We did what we had to do to get through that.”
Julie noted the timing of her return home as divine: “That truly was a God moment because that is something … I’m sure you had these same thoughts that, ‘Oh, my God, am I going to be alive when my kids come home?’”
Julie Opens Up About the Emotional Weight of Caregiving
Throughout the podcast, Julie shared how much she values her role as a caretaker. He explained how hard it was not to be there for Faye during those critical moments while she was incarcerated.
“That was something that you used to talk about in the emails to me,” Todd told Julie. “[You said], ‘I worry so much about not being there for your mother because I was with her for every appointment.’”
Julie affirmed her deep attachment to the role: “That was my fear, that you and that my parents would remain healthy and be OK until I could get there because I have always been that one to be the caretaker. I love that role. That is a role that I cherish.”
Faye Reflects on Gratitude & Faith After Cancer Scare
Despite the health scare, Faye maintained her trademark optimism and faith throughout the experience. “I always say God has a plan,” Faye said. “Just stick with it. Stay focused. But I had great, great doctors, friends, that I cherish until death, that have been good to me.”
Julie echoed the sentiment: “It was a blessing that I was there for that doctor’s visit. It felt like something bigger was at work.”
The conversation highlighted not just the timing of the Chrisleys’ release but the strength of family bonds, even after long separations.
