One of the main things everyone wants to know about time spent in prison is what, exactly, is available to eat. On an episode of their podcast, Chrisley Confessions 2.0, Todd and Julie Chrisley give listeners the inside scoop on the couple’s diet while they were incarcerated for bank fraud and tax evasion.
What started as a 12-year sentence for Todd and 7 years for Julie was ultimately commuted following a presidential pardon from Donald Trump—and now, the celebrity couple is ready to share their full experience with fans.
After being released from separate federal prisons on May 28, the newly freed duo shared what meals were like for 56-year-old Todd at Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in Florida, and for 52-year-old Julie at the Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

“I had Chick-fil-A,” Todd said matter-of-factly—only to be interrupted by Julie exclaiming, “Todd!” He continued, “I’m not gonna come on here and lie.”
Todd recalled, “I had Chick-fil-A. I had Burger King. I had pizza. I had Culver’s—which, let me just go ahead and tell you, this is not an ad—but Culver’s is my jam now.”
And if you’re already surprised by the lineup of outside food available to the reality TV star, it gets even wilder. “I had Olive Garden once, but I didn’t like it,” Todd lamented—while Julie admitted her experience in Kentucky was vastly different.
“What I ate in prison—which was none of that, none—I didn’t have a single morsel of outside food for 28 months,” Julie said, before Todd asked, “Did you not make friends with any of the staff?”

“Oh my God. No. Not that way. No. I didn’t,” Julie explained. “But I’m actually gonna do some filming at home of some things that I cooked while I was in prison because I think that’s kinda cool.”
The conversation continued, with one shocking revelation after another. “Well, I would have to get my chef because I had a chef who made my food,” Todd said. Julie’s response was disappointed, “Okay. Well, I didn’t.”
Todd goes on to describe having quesadillas made with an iron with pepperonis and pizza sauce that he “had brought in from Walmart.” To which Julie noted her husband recently bugying a “huge bag of pepperonies” while on a recent Sam’s Club trip. “What are you doing?” she asked.
While incarcerated, Todd recalls mostly eating quesadillas, tuna and simple foods like peanut butter and pasta salad. Julie, on the other hand, ate a lot of tuna and got creatie with limited ingredients. She talks about making dishes like pickle wraps, chicken and stuffing casseroles and even cooking food on radiators during the holidays.
