Todd Chrisley’s Emotional Reunion With Mom(Nanny Faye)! Things Are Not The Same!
FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WKRG) — While reality television star Todd Chrisley’s release from the Federal Prison Camp in Pensacola is drawing national attention, eyes are back on the rest of the Chrisley family.
One of Todd Chrisley’s biggest supporters has always been his mother Faye, or “Nanny Faye,” as she’s known to her family and fans.
WKRG News 5 learned she enjoys the homestyle cooking at Mr. Spuds, a restaurant on Highway 181 in Fairhope, and she’s been known to visit the Eastern Shore from time to time.
The owner calls her “more than just a customer,” saying that over time, she has become one of his closest friends.
When Nanny Faye walked into Fred Nolte’s restaurant almost two years ago, he said he heard a voice he would recognize anywhere.
“Nanny, she’s something else,” Nolte said. “We watched the show for a few years, and I just heard that voice. When I peeked back around the door, she knew I’d caught on to her.”
She was in town to visit her son Chrisley in Pensacola, where he was held behind bars for tax evasion and bank fraud. She stayed with a friend on the Eastern Shore during her visit, and they decided to stop by Mr. Spuds for dinner one evening.
“She’s a burger person,” Nolte said. “A bowl of beans and cornbread. She’s happy.”
From that day on, Fred and Nanny’s friendship was cemented.
“We’ve been talking ever since. We talk several times a week,” Nolte added. “What you see on TV is exactly how she is in everyday life. She is very genuine.”
Over time, Nanny Faye’s visits led to many great memories and even a little inspiration for his menu.
“Mainly our topic of conversation is her recipes from her mother and grandmother,” Nolte said. “I’ve actually used some of them here in the restaurant.”
He told News 5 that he couldn’t believe the news when Nanny Faye called to tell him that Todd had been officially pardoned.
“When Savannah got the call from the president and hung up with him, she called her,” Nolte said. “When she called me, she was crying. You could tell she really missed them and worried about it.”
He said it’s been a long time coming, but he’s excited that his friend will finally be reunited with the rest of her family.
