Tuscaloosa area folks were treated to a visit by Todd and Julie Chrisley this weekend.

The “Chrisley Knows Best” couple were in T-Town working, just like hundreds of other parents of students. They were moving their son Grayson Chrisley into new digs. Grayson has been a student at the University of Alabama since January 2025 and made the Dean’s List his first semester. That sparked the first social media post by his father, Todd, since his release from federal prison in May.

Grayson, 19, graduated from high school online through Oak Christian School. When his parents both went to prison, his nine-years-older sister Savannah was made his guardian. When he first went to Tuscaloosa in January, Savanah handled the move-in since his parents were still in prison.

Todd and Julie received a full pardon from President Donald Trump on May 27. They had served two and a half years after a conviction involving bank fraud.

The reality TV stars were reportedly spotted along with Grayson eating at the City Café in Northport on Friday. The old, iconic eatery is famous for Southern breakfast and meat-and-three lunches. There is nothing glitzy Hollywood (or Nashville) about City Café. Down home Alabama.

The Chrisleys had to go on Friday, because City Café is famously closed on weekends, including ball game weekends. You could have predicted they would do the City Café experience on Friday.

They were later seen at Sam’s Costco, Home Goods, Jack Brown’s and Publix. This sounds like a similar itinerary to a thousand other parents of UA students doing a move-in.

The celebrity couple stayed in a relatively new hotel owned by a celebrity. Alamite, in downtown Tuscaloosa, is owned by retired head football coach Nick Saban.

Looking ahead to Grayson Chrisley’s four years at UA (Class of 2028), what else will the Chrisleys be likely to do at the Capstone?

Will Todd and Julie come to some home football games? If they do, will the TV cameramen locate them and show them to national viewers? (I bet “yes” on this one.)

Their hometown team, Vanderbilt, will be coming to Tuscaloosa on October 4 after upsetting Alabama last year in Nashville. Will the Chrisleys show up for the Commodores?

Will they come for homecoming and experience the pep rally, The Steps Show and the homecoming parade? (Hey, SGA homecoming committee. The Chrisleys would make great entertainers for the Steps Show or Grand Marshalls of the parade.)

Will they experience tastes of Tuscaloosa traditions? Archibald’s for barbeque. Dreamland for ribs. Nicks in the Sticks for steaks. Breakfast at The Waysider. The Strip for the pre-game or post-game experience. The list of things to do in T-Town is long and fun.

And of course, they will come when Grayson graduates, maybe with honors. So far, he is on the Dean’s List and on track to graduate Magna Cum Chrisley.
