The Same Day GH’s Tristan Rogers Shares His Cancer Diagnosis, He Makes a Surprise Return as Robert
Leave it to Robert Scorpio to keep us on our toes. The same day that portrayer Tristan Rogers disclosed via a statement that he is undergoing treatment for cancer, the General Hospital legend reappeared on screen.
Wth the former WSB operative welcoming surprise daughter Sasha and her newborn Daisy to his home in Europe (where Michael’s babymama has fled to avoid her daughter being collateral damage in a brewing Mob war — even though, yes, viewers know it’s wacky Willow who’s been messing with the tot).
If there’s any comfort to fans of General Hospital in the apparent departure of Sofia Mattsson, it has to be that the beleaguered character is being reunited with the father that she not too long ago discovered was hers.
Sure, she lost boyfriend Cody in the process — the new branch of the family tree made Sasha and Cody kissing cousins — but she got a heckuva dad to counteract the shenanigans that seem to be the stock in trade of mom Holly.
Rogers made his last appearance on the ABC soap back in November of 2024, when he skipped town with his lost love in hopes of keeping her from getting kneecapped before she could pay off her debts.
The Emmy winner (for Studio City) originated his role as 1980 came to an end — in other words, smack in the heyday of General Hospital. (See photos from that era here.)
Tristan Rogers shares cancer diagnosis at 79
Tristan Rogers’ representative, Anthony Turk, confirmed the actor’s cancer diagnosis in a statement. However, he did not reveal what type of cancer Rogers has been battling.

It continued, “While he remains hopeful and is working closely with his medical team on a treatment plan, this is a challenging time for Tristan and his family.”
The statement also called on fans to respect Rogers and his family’s privacy as they handle the “emotional and physical burdens” that come with his diagnosis. “They are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support and love from their friends and family. Tristan sends his love to his fans and wants them to know how much he appreciates their loyalty and encouragement over the years. This support means more to him now than ever. Future updates will be shared if deemed appropriate by Tristan and his family,” it further read.
Notably, Rogers’ Robert Scorpio recently made a surprise return to General Hospital in its latest episode amid his cancer diagnosis. In the episode, the former welcomed his daughter, Sasha, and her newborn, Daisy, to his home.
Besides General Hospital, Tristan Rogers is also known for playing Colin Atkinson in The Young and the Restless and Doc in Studio City. His other acting credits include The Rescuers Down Under, The Flesh and Blood Show, and The Four Dimensions of Greta.
