Chrisley Knows Best

We’re Back, Baby! | Debut of Chrisley Confessions 2.0 with Todd & Julie Chrisley

Todd and Julie Chrisley are comparing notes on what they ate during their time in prison.

On the Wednesday, July 16, episode of their podcast Chrisley Confessions 2.0, the couple answered questions from fans, including one about what food options they were given while behind bars.

The Chrisley Knows Best stars were released from separate federal prisons on May 28. They had both been incarcerated since January 2023 after being found guilty of tax evasion and bank fraud until President Donald Trump issued them full pardons on May 27.

Todd, 56, had been serving time at the Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in Florida, while Julie, 52, was at Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

“I had Chick-fil-A,” Todd alleged, as Julie interrupted, “Todd!”

“You ask me what did I eat, and I’m not gonna come on here and lie,” he responded, claiming “I had Chick-fil-A. I had Burger King. I had pizza. I had Culver’s, which — let me just go ahead and tell you, this is not an ad — but Culver’s is my jam now.”

“I had Olive Garden once, but I didn’t like it,” he added.

Julie then replied that she had a very different dining experience from her husband’s.

“What I ate in prison, which was none of that, none. I had not one morsel of outside food for 28 months,” she claimed.

“Did you not make friends with any of the staff?” Todd wanted to know.

“Oh my God. No. Not that way. No. I didn’t,” Julie insisted. “But I’m actually gonna do some filming at home, of some things that I cooked while I was in prison because I think that’s kinda cool.”

“Well, I would have to get my chef because I had a chef that made my food,” Todd said, to which Julie replied, “Okay. Well, I didn’t.”

“I had quesadillas that he would make with an iron with pepperonis and pizza sauce that I had brought in from Walmart,” Todd said.

Julie then noted that on a recent trip to Sam’s Club, her husband bought a “huge bag of pepperonis,” prompting her to ask, “What are you doing?”

Julie then brought the conversation back to the topic of the fan’s question, what they ate in prison.

“Okay, so I ate a lot of tuna, and I really didn’t eat tuna before I went in,” Julie noted, before Todd shared, “I love tuna.”

“We had quesadillas. We had nachos,” Julie claimed. “I made a pickle wrap, which is really good.”

“I ain’t eating all that,” Todd declared, to which Julie replied, “You don’t know, because you never had it.”

“I had Culver’s,” Todd told her. “Why would I eat a pickle wrap?”

The couple have previously commented on their dining options in prison.

In a December 2023 interview with reporter Brian Entin on Chris Cuomo’s NewsNation show Cuomo, Todd said he was focused on simple foods.

“I eat tuna, I eat peanut butter — that’s where I get protein. I eat, like, a pasta salad that I make. And then I start over again doing the same thing the next week,” he said.

On an April 2024 episode of her Unlocked podcast, Savannah Chrisley shared a letter from her mother that detailed Julie’s first holiday season in prison, which included cooking on radiators.

“I decided to cook for Thanksgiving,” Julie wrote in the letter, dated November 23. “I fought against it but I decided to do it.”

Julie shared that about 10 of the prisoners ate together and some of the women made desserts. Julie decided to make chicken and stuffing casseroles.

“It doesn’t sound like much but cooking anything in here is a chore,” Julie wrote.

Julie continued, “Cooking is done on radiators in the winter and with hot water and a small Rubbermaid orange cooler in the summer. There’s no refrigerator, no knives, no staples other than a few spices from commissary. We made the best of it though and just sitting around a table was nice.”
