Todd Chrisley Stunned by Son Grayson’s Tearful Request: “He Was Terrified”

Todd Chrisley is sharing the emotional reaction that his son Grayson had when he and his wife Julie Chrisley returned home from prison.

The Chrisley Knows Best stars — who were convicted of bank fraud and tax evasion in 2022 — recalled the family reunion that followed their May 28 release during an appearance on My View with Lara Trump on Saturday, June 28.

Todd, 56, said his son Grayson, 19, asked if he could “sleep” in the room with him and Julie, 52, on their first night back as he was “scared” they’d be sent away again.

“He came in and he said, ‘Can I sleep with you tonight?’ I said, ‘You can,’ ” Todd said.

Discussing his parents’ return home, Grayson chimed in, “[The best part] is really just being together. I mean, you take those times for granted when they are home, and then when you realize one day it could be there and the next day it’s not, you know, it means just a little bit more.”

Savannah Chrisley also recalled her brother’s reaction, saying, “The first night he said, ‘I’m scared to go to sleep because I feel like I’m just going to wake up in the morning and they’re not going to be here.”

“Grayson’s always said, ‘I have two moms,’ because we’re nine years apart. And so we’ve always been attached to the hip,” she continued. “And he’s taught me more than any person in the world ever could the past two and a half years.”

“He thought I saved him when in reality he saved me … going through this together has been such a whirlwind,” Savannah added.

Todd recalled that on his first night in prison, he was “angry” about being away from his family.

“When the lights went out, I literally cried myself to sleep because it’s the first time Julie and I had ever been away from each other since we had been married,” he said. “I’d never not been in that house when my kids woke up in the morning or when they went to bed at night.”

Todd said while it was “hard” being away from his kids in prison, he “could at least talk to them,” which he was not able to do with his wife for 28 months while being locked away.

The couple described the moment they were finally able to reunite as “surreal.”

“I think for me, I was never away from her because she was in my spirit the entire time. I thought of her every second of my day,” said Todd. “And so when I hugged her the first time, it was like I was home in my heart spiritually.”
