“Beloved ‘General Hospital’ Star Denise Alexander Dᴇᴀᴅ at 85 – Fans and Co-Stars Devastated”
General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that there’s some sad news to report since Denise Alexander (Lesley Webber) is dead at the age of 85. Genie Francis (Laura Collins) is speaking out after the loss of her TV mom, so let’s talk about this tough blow for the soap world.
Denise Alexander, who died on March 5, got her start as a child actress in various film and television projects, but her first soap appearance came on The Clear Horizon in 1960.
By 1966, Alexander scored the part of Susan Hunter Martin on Days of Our Lives and became a very popular player in Salem.
However, GH eventually made Alexander an offer she couldn’t refuse and stole her away from DOOL during contract negotiations.
That led to Alexander leaving Salem behind and heading over to Port Charles in 1973.
Lesley Webber was involved in plenty of exciting storylines that held fans attention over the years – including her grim exit in 1984 and her soapy resurrection in 1996.
Alexander’s final appearance as Lesley happened back in 2021, but fans will never forget her contribution to the soap and the mark she left behind.
Genie Francis played Alexander’s TV daughter on the show, so she spoke with TV Insider about how much love there was between them.

“I stole her good stuff…when I say I stole her good stuff, I’m saying I was so young, she imprinted on me,” Francis said. “And some of my acting, some of my style of acting, was directly imprinted on me by Denise Alexander.”
Genie Francis added that Alexander was “very, very good” to her while she was growing up, so she obviously has a lot of admiration for her.
Our hearts go out to all Alexander’s loved ones in their time of grief, but Alexander’s memory will live on through her decades of wonderful acting.
