It’s not a proper Days of our Lives homecoming without a little chaos and Sami walking in on Belle whispering a love confession to EJ while he’s laid out in a coma.
That’s peak Salem drama right there. Belle might be off the suspect list when it comes to EJ’s shooting (who professes love to a guy they just tried to kill?), but Sami? That’s a whole different story.

While Martha Madison (Belle) is thrilled to have Alison Sweeney (Sami) back on set, her on-screen counterpart is…less enthused.
“Contentious would be a good word,” Madison laughs when describing Belle and Sami’s relationship in an interview with Soaps.com. “
She’s in bed with her sister’s ex-husband. Not really her finest moment!” Not the best way to win back family points, huh?

And if you thought Sami’s sugar-sweet “greeting” at the hospital was loaded, you’re not wrong. Madison teases, “Yeah, she’s not gonna be too pleased about it – but she has her own life going on.”
By “own life,” we’re talking about a whole heap of emotional baggage. Sami’s return isn’t just about EJ and Belle playing house.
According to Sweeney, Sami’s forced to confront her past with EJ — including the deeply painful history of his assault and Johnny’s (Carson Boatman) conception. Not exactly light reunion material.

Still, there’s something weirdly powerful about Sami and Belle facing off again. Madison hints that while their scenes are prickly, there’s room for empathy.
“Nobody knows how irresistible EJ is more than Sami,” she says. “This happened to her too. In a weird way, they can kind of bond over that.”
Strange bonding moment? Absolutely. But welcome to Salem, where nothing is ever straightforward.
Despite all the sibling strife, Madison is soaking up every second of working with Sweeney again.
“There’s always the family dynamics to play… Sami says and does all the things that Belle sort of internally does, but full of guilt and shame. I love those kinds of scenes.”
And if you think this is the end of the drama, think again. Madison leaves us with one final tease: “As Sami does, she comes back with surprises every time. I’ll just leave it at that.”
