Fans of General Hospital are wondering how Drew Cain lost his Quartermaine surname this week in the show. The Monday, March 31, episode of the popular soap opera had its share of intense developments in all the ongoing storylines. One of the most jaw-dropping incidents this week was Drew being stripped of his Quartermaine name.

Why can’t Drew use the Quartermaine name in General Hospital?
Drew Cain lost his Quartermaine surname after Boyle could not demolish the family crypt.
At one point in the episode, Anna arrests Emma from the crypt and drives her to the PCPD. Meanwhile, as the sheriff was about to arrest Tracy, Yuri wasted no time intervening. Trina then turned the camera on, allowing Tracy to deliver an earnest speech about the crypt.
“Good people of Port Charles. My father, my mother, and my brother are all laid to rest here after spending an entire lifetime dedicated to this community. This is their final sanctuary,” asserted Tracy. She ended the speech by blaming “Congressman Cutthroat Cain.”
Although Boyle still managed to arrest Tracy and Yuri, Diane entered the scene with a cease and desist order and freed the pair. Shocked by the development, Boyle enquired who authorized the order, to which Diane replied, “Dr. Monica Quartermaine.”
Boyle bore the bad news to Drew and informed him that they were unable to tear down the family crypt. He then dropped the bomb so that Drew would no longer be able to use “Quartermaine” in his name. “The crypt isn’t going anywhere, and your days as a Quartermaine are over.
Moving forward, you are legally obligated to use the name Drew Caine.” Enraged by this, Drew asked, “How the hell did Tracy manage that!?” Boyle said, “Oh, Tracy didn’t. Monica did,” thus unravelling the dramatic reveal.

With it being Monica that stopped Drew and stripped him of the Q name, would the writers actually have Drew somehow “cause” Monica’s death? Not him directly killing her, but doing something that causes her to have a heart attack and die? That would be a very bold move if they did that. But that would also require that Jason kills Drew the minute he finds out. While I like the idea of Jason killing Drew, I don’t think I want to see Monica die bacause of Drew.

Drew is not just a cheater he went after a family member to seduce and now is going after the Quartermaine family. He was going after the family crypt where her husband and son are. Monica would do something like this and did. It won’t effect Emily Scout.
