General Hospital‘s Josslyn Jacks recently lost the love of her life. Notably, this wasn’t the only tragic love story the character has been part of on the soap. However, some fans suspect a new love story could be right around the corner with the introduction of a new character.
Josslyn Will Meet A New Character Will Training For The WSB
On the soap, Josslyn has been the subject of a few notable love stories, a few of which ended in tragedy. Most recently, her love story with Dex Heller was recently brought to an end when the character was killed by Cyrus.
This wasn’t the only tragic love story Joss endured on the soap. Notably, she also lost her love-interest Oscar to cancer back in 2019.
An upcoming episode is set to introduce a new character, Vaughn, who serves as Joss’ handler at the World Security Bureau. Fans are already suspecting that the two might soon develop a deeper connection.
As noted by Soap Opera Digest, the character will be played by actor Bryce Durfee. Prior to this, the actor made appearances on shows like Man with a Plan, Pump, and Last Man Standing. He also notably appeared as a model in an episode of The Bold and the Beautiful, back in 2012.
Bryce Durfee Talked About Playing Vaughn, Even Revealing He Almost Played Another Character
Notably, the actor spoke with the publication and revealed he previously auditioned for other roles on General Hospital. Back in 2018, he auditioned for Harrison Chase, who was ultimately cast with Josh Swickard.
Durfee, however, had no hard feelings over the decision. As he noted, “It was down to me, Josh and I think a third guy. And the best man got it! Josh is absolutely fantastic, and I was really excited to run into him on set [at GH] recently.”
Durfee also shared what it was like stepping into the role of Vaughn. He shared, “I was anxious in the sense that I didn’t know what to expect because I knew the soap world moves fast. But as far as the performance,
I had just finished another project and was feeling loose and ready to go, so I was really excited for that.”
“That first day was just a whirlwind! I kind of felt like I got thrown into a washing machine and I got spit out an hour later. That’s kind of how I remember that first day. I can’t wait to see how it turned out!”
A New Love Might Be Too Soon For Josslyn On General Hospital
As Joss is starting her training with the WSB, she is naturally set to encounter Vaughn. This has led to speculation that the new character could serve as a possibly new love-interest for Joss.
However, Dex’s death is still recent. It’s likely that Joss would want to avoid relationships for the time being while she is still in mourning.
Added to that, as mentioned Joss’ love story with Dex isn’t the only relationship Joss has seen end in tragedy. It was also Dex’s death that pushed Joss to look into what really happened, leading to her own fateful encounter with Cyrus.
While Joss escaped, having shot Cyrus in self-defense, all of this could added to the emotional weight Joss is going through.
In a more practical sense, the writers might want to avoid giving Josslyn a new love-interest for the time being because Dex’s passing is still too fresh for fans.
However, that doesn’t mean Vaughn couldn’t be a new love-interest for Joss once enough time has passed. Joss could also be tempted to pursue a new love, only to realize it’s too soon. Ultimately, only time will tell what will happen on the soap.
