Tanner Novlan on B&B’s “Shocking and Exciting Twist”

The question of who is Luna’s dad on The Bold & The Beautiful has been floating around for a while now, with Bill and Tom believing it could be them and Li suspecting her ex-husband, Jack.

However, some fans’ suspicions were recently confirmed when Finn’s DNA test proved that he is Luna’s father!

As a young man, Finn found himself drawn to his adoptive aunt, Poppy, and their one night together resulted in a daughter that he knew nothing about until now.

“It’s something that happened when he was young, and he knows it’s wrong and was wrong, and now it’s reared its head years later in the worst way,” Tanner Novlan told Us Weekly.

“I think that’s the trauma of it for him. It’s a mistake he made long ago that he tried to forget about, but it’s coming back to haunt him.”

Novlan joined the cast of B&B back in July 2020 as the newly created character of Dr. John “Finn” Finnegan, and it was soon revealed that his birth mother was the notorious Sheila Carter. But as a newer character, the soap has free reign to play with his backstory to create new storylines.

“What’s so great about Finn is he is an original character,” the actor explained, “so anytime I get to see the writers go deeper into his past and navigate where Finn really came from, is always interesting to me.

He’s not beholden to any storylines over the years. I get to play an original character in that way. This was a shocking and exciting twist, for sure.”\

Of course, as shocked as Finn was to learn the truth, imagine how everyone else is going to react! Luna will have to adjust to her cousin being her biological father, Li will discover that her adopted son slept with her sister, and Steffy is going to find out that her kidnapper is her stepdaughter!

“He’s prone to giving people second chances, but then she tried to kill his wife, you know?” Novlan mused. “And so I’m not sure how he’s going to be able to navigate that with wanting to keep his family and his true love, Steffy and his kids, safe and together.”
