Chad Duell Comments On GH Keeping The Door Open For His Return – “They Didn’t Need To Do That”

General Hospital (GH) spoilers suggest that Chad Duell recently appeared on the State of Mind podcast, hosted by onscreen dad, Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) to talk about his character, Michael Corinthos’ upcoming exit from the soap. Learn more about Duell’s thoughts on this, below.

General Hospital’s – Chad Duell Feels Very Blessed About His Current Position

Duell talked about the reason behind his GH exit during the State of Mind podcast. He notes the core of it all was that he just needed to take some time away due to recent changes in his life like losing his father suddenly and becoming a dad himself.

Maurice noted that Duell must be thankful to GH Executive Producer, Frank Valentini, for keeping a door open for his and Michael’s return. Chad replied, “He didn’t need to do that. I’m aware how blessed I am for that, so I’m very thankful.”

Both Duell and Benard also talked about Michael’s exit storyline, which is currently unraveling. Many fans have been vocal about how disappointed they are about him being a burn victim after getting caught up in an explosion, clearly targeted for Sonny.

Still, Duell notes that he’s “glad” GH did it like that. He goes on to say, “As far as a typical kind of, like, what, I get shot or I blow up and I’m gone?” (Referring to the way the soap set up Morgan Corinthos’ (Bryan Craig) exit in 2016 when the character was blown up in a car and never seen again).

Meanwhile, Benard notes that the explosion and how Duell’s Michael double got burned up during the fire was very, ‘well done’, from the show’s point of view, which was an incredible sight to see – if it wasn’t so gruesome and scary!

General Hospital Star Might Not Return

Coming to why we think he might not be coming back because, in the same interview, the actor thanked Frank Valentini but also said that he didn’t need to do that.

Which meant Frank didn’t have to leave the door open for his return. However, he did acknowledge that he is very grateful that he has the option to come back when he wants.

Given how the actor and the producer have been speaking about it, it looks like nothing is too decided on the soap right now. If Chad decides to go another way, it is also possible that Frank might have to recast his character.
