After Losing ‘Everything That I Own,’ General Hospital’s Cameron Mathison Sends a Heartfelt Message to Those Whose Houses Were Spared
It has been a harrowing week for General Hospital’s Cameron Mathison (Drew Quartermaine) and thousands of people who lost their homes due to the ravages of the Los Angeles County wildfires; three of which are still not 100% contained as of Sunday afternoon.
Mathison was one of many known celebrities who lost their beloved homes in the wildfires.
Cameron lost the home he lived in with his children since 2012 in the Eaton Fire that spread quickly through the Altadena and surrounding areas.
Since the destruction of his home on Tuesday January 8th, the GH star has made appearances on Good Morning America and TMZ Live and has kept his co-stars, friends, followers and more abreast of updates via his Instagram account.
Now on Sunday, Cameron addressed a very important issue beginning to emerge; that of something of a ‘survivor’s guilt’ for those who feel terrible that their homes survived while their neighbors or friends homes didn’t.
Cameron began his latest video post addressing all of those who have reached out with concern, relating, “Just a really quick check-in to say the massive amounts of love and support that you have shown our family and the thousands of people that are going through exactly the same thing, having lost everything that we own, you don’t know how much it helps. I just want to say that it makes the world of difference, and I wanna say “thank you.”‘
At that point, Mathison went on to explain the emotional toll the wildfire devastation has placed on those who have lost their home and those who’s homes are still standing.
“I also want to say, and this is important, that the people that had their houses spared by these horrible fires; there’s houses in Altadena that are still standing … there’s houses some in the Palisades that are still standing,’ he began.
“For those people, just know that for us, that has lost everything, it brings us so much joy to see that some people made it, that your houses made it.”

Addressing the issue head on, Cameron added, “I have friends that I think on some level feel guilty or something, I don’t know.
But just know, all of us that lost everything we walked through and we walked by your houses, and it just makes us smile and brings tears to my eyes to think that that your house was spared.
I don’t know if it’s survivor’s guilt or whatever, but please let that go, let that go. We’re so happy for you, and love to everybody and support to everybody.”
